This resonates with me today. I took a strengths workshop, called “Strengths Passport” in preparation for my role as SRA for next year. It is how it sounds, we learned our strengths. But also, we learned to spot the strengths of others. This is an interesting skill, and I tried it on Andrew today, and it worked.
Also, this workshop helped me realize that I have certain particular strengths. I was called a “grounded visionary” and a “nomad”. I answered the question: What are you excited for in the next two weeks? I proceeded to talk about how I was excited to finish up the school year at OSU, start summer school at WWU, go to school in my hometown; the school my parents went, see my nearly two year-old niece, and spend time with family.
It was agreed upon that I am a “grounded visionary” because I have a vision that drives me; I know where I want to be and how I am going to get there. I am driven by my roots, which dictate my morals and ideals; rendering me grounded. Never before have I thought of myself as grounded. That was always an ideal prided by my mother, yet, I have never felt before that it is descriptive of myself.
“Nomad”, because another spotted that I seem to get more energized when I talk about my next move. It was spotted that each place I go I take what I need from it. I wonder, have I really given enough back? Also, this nomad strength is really pivotal right now. Can I take what I need from a place and then start afresh? This will be the test of my strength, because I know that I cannot stay.

Well, it is simplified to far. But yes, so true. I like mine smooth.
